FORESTS
Albert Einstein
Charles works with Eden’s Cave as a writer, performer, editor and workshop facilitator. In 2016 he joined the company to start developing 'Forests'; a research project investigating our relationship with the living world in a time of ecological crisis. In 2020, the company premiered 'Forests' stage play at The House Theatre, Plymouth. But, when the pandemic decimated the projects planned tour, the company decided to translate the piece into a film. In 2021, the company returned to the place they began - the exquisite and mysterious landscapes of the Forest of Dean - and over 18 days embarked on an ambitious filmmaking process.
In October 2023, Eden's Cave was invited by Arts Institute, Plymouth to create a day-long event and share the company's process developing 'Forests'. The day consisted of presentations from academics, an exhibition, workshop and a first sharing of sequences from 'Forests' the film alongside the theatre version. It was followed by a Q&A led by Dr Michael Pearce from Exeter University.
